Launched in 2018 by the School of International Futures (SOIF), Next Generation Foresight Practitioners (NGFP) is a global network of almost 600 people using futures and foresight to create positive impact and systemic transformation in their communities and beyond, from engaging with farmers in Nigeria on the future of food security to leading a session at the UN’s COP 27. Small Foundation supports the ambitions of the NGFP network in Africa (NGFP Africa).

Systems lens

NGFP Africa fosters leadership development, enhances skills and connections, and provides opportunities for members to collaborate across systems that Small Foundation seeks to impact, including digitisation, good governance, and rural futures. NGFP Africa challenges patterns of agency, democratising futures and foresight and bringing next generation voices into decision-making spaces such as government and international organisations.

Partner perspective

“In 2022 the partnership with Small Foundation facilitated us to give the network members space to continue to connect around the issues they most care about: climate, rural futures, emerging technologies and healthcare. It has been transformative for the network to have the long-term support that Small Foundation has offered, which gives the network time and space to thrive much more organically and sustainably.”
